Looking For The Best Retirement Plan To Fit Your Life

When you enter your career or apply for a new job one of the benefits you look for is a retirement plan. A retirement plan though your job is not the only way to save for retirement, personal plans make up a large portion of the way people save for retirement. Some of the personal plans include a Roth IRA, Traditional IRA, and annuities which are discussed below.

A Roth IRA compared to a Traditional IRA has a few differences and one of them is the fact that a Roth IRA is not tax deferred. A normal IRA is tax deferred meaning that you will not have to pay taxes on the money contributed until you take the money out. In a Roth you pay taxes on the money the same year you place it into the fund, and for some people they do not want to do this and thus shy away from a Roth.

The benefit from paying your taxes on the money contributed to the fund in the same year it was earned is that the money is then tax sheltered. If tax laws change in the coming years to raise taxes then you will not have to worry about it because your money has already been taxed. But if you are wanting your money to be tax deferred then you are probably also looking for the other benefit a Traditional IRA has to offer which is a lowered Adjusted Gross Income.

When using a Traditional IRA fund the amount of money you contribute can then be deducted from your AGI. When your AGI is lowered then you are eligible for tax credits and deductions that were not previously available to you. One of the other options when you are looking for a retirement fund is an annuity which allows you to contribute as much money as you want to the fund. This is not an option with IRAs as they limit you on how much money you can contribute.

The only downside with an annuity would be the high fees involved with the fund, many people find the fees to not be worth the extra money allowed to be contributed. The above three retirement plans are just a few ways to save for retirement and live happily after work.
